An Advanced, Easy to Use Diabetes Data Management System

Precision Link® Direct lets you quickly and easily transfer blood glucose results from your Abbott Diabetes Care meter to your computer and present it on screen in a range of formats.

What's in the Precision Link®Directpackage? Serial cable connection to transfer results from your meter to your computer Software that, when installed on your computer, allows you to graph and review those results. After downloading the software, you can purchase the serial cable directly from Abbott Diabetes Care Customer Service by calling free call 1800 801 478.  The cost of the serial cable is $49.95 including GST (if your computer does not have a serial port, you will also need to purchase a serial adapter keyspan, code USA-19HS). How does Precision Link® Direct help me manage my diabetes?

It allows you to:

• See trends in glucose levels
• Spot possible problems
• Identify opportunities to fine-tune your management

What can Precision Link® Direct do?

• Standard Day mode plots glucose levels at the different times of day that you test.
• This graph lets you see the effects of regular events (such as meals) on your blood glucose levels.

• The Data Listing gives you a table of glucose levels throughout the day.
• You can check how often you are testing, and spot trends in glucose levels at certain times of the day.

• Statistics graphs let you see the percentage of glucose test results that are above, below, or within your target range.
• These graphs help you check how well you are progressing with control of your blood glucose levels.

• Logbook shows you all the test results from your meter and compares them to your target range.

What do I need to use Precision Link® Direct?

You will be able to use Precision Link Direct on most home computers. Specifically, Precision Link® Direct requires a 133 MHz Pentium-compatible processor or higher with Microsoft^® Windows^® 98/2000/NT/ME/XP:

• For Windows 98/ME you need 32 MB RAM
• For Windows NT/2000/XP you need 64 MB RAM

You will need 16 MB of free hard-disk space and a serial communication port (this is standard with most computers).  Please note, Precision Link® Direct is not compatible with Macintosh, and your computer must have a serial port and a CD-ROM drive. USB support is available via the purchase of a USB adaptor.
