Coulometry

Accuracy you can trust

FreeStyle brand meters use a unique, patented, electrochemical technique known as coulometry to measure blood glucose.

Coulometric technology has two critical benefits:

  • It allows the meter to read a very small sample size
  • It is less affected by haematocrit extremes than amperometic meters

Abbott coulometry chemistry is designed for accuracy

  • Confidence that virtually all of the glucose is measured
  • Confidence that provides precise sampling, using a small sample size
  • Confidence test result isn't compromised due to insufficient blood
  • Confidence in results if person is on medications or has other medical conditions

Blood is easily applied:

  • Fill trigger technology is designed to prevent the test from starting until enough blood is applied
  • Dual fill lets you apply blood to either side of the test strip

World's smallest blood sample size:

  • FreeStyle Lite and Optium Omega use only 0.3ul of blood
  • Small sample size allows virtually pain free testing
